Harris of the Advance...The White House practice only when you break through the "three gates." Illegal immigration, Gaza war, and inflation challenges (kamala harris)

Vice President Kamala Harris will make her official debut at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago for four days from the 19th (local time) through an acceptance speech for the Democratic presidential candidate.

Harris, who succeeded in rallying her supporters with political slogans such as "not going back to the past" for a month after President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race on the 21st of last month, is preparing for the next phase of the campaign, including announcing an economic pledge on the 16th.

However, Harris faces a daunting task. In particular, illegal immigrants, Gaza war, and inflation are considered challenges that are difficult to overcome. The Republican Party is intensively attacking this point.

How to deal with illegal immigrants from immigrant families

"Do you have any plans to visit the border?" (Anchor)
"We're going. We've been to the border." (Harris)
'You didn't go.' (Anchor)
"I didn't even go to Europe (after hesitation). I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I don't overlook the importance of borders." (Harris)

The "border" is Harris' Achilles' heel. As the problem of immigrants flocking to the southern border soon after the inauguration of the government became serious, President Biden asked Vice President Harris to address the root causes of illegal immigrants, including "violence, natural disasters, and economic hardship." Harris has the image that she did not do this properly. The interview with NBC's flagship anchor Lester Holt in June 2021 was a decisive factor that reinforced this impression. Harris did not have a proper media interview for about a month after Biden's resignation to become the Democratic candidate, and some even speculate that it was because of the trauma of the interview.

Harris feels unfair. This is because President Biden did not entrust Harris with the entire border management task. The president's order was to resolve the cause. Harris focused on attracting private investment to Central American countries such as El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. It was to create jobs and reduce the number of illegal immigrants. It attracted 5.2 billion dollars and is said to be a success. The problem is that the long-term approach is not as popular as the strong border control that is effective. This is why the Republican Party is attacking Harris as the "border tsar" (a metaphorical expression of the chief policy officer).

Harris changed her strategy when the explanation that it wasn't the tsar didn't work. At a campaign rally in Las Vegas on the 10th, he emphasized his career as California attorney general and said, "I tracked down transnational gangs, drug cartels, and human traffickers who illegally entered our country. I prosecuted them and won them. I know the immigration system is broken and I know what needs to be done to fix it. We need comprehensive reforms that include strong border security and a path to citizenship," he said. "The border issue is not easy to solve, but Harris is strong." However, the fact that he is a Democrat with strong support for minorities and comes from an immigrant family reinforces the image of being "generous to illegal immigration."

Growing Anti-Semitism...What to do with Israel

"President Harris is a disaster for Israel and the Jewish people" (Zvika Klein, editor-in-chief of "The Jerusalem Post")

The issue of Israel is the Democratic Party's "hot potato." Young voters are critical of the U.S. policy to support Israel, as evidenced by the protests against the Gaza war in college towns across the U.S. The Democratic National Convention is being held in Chicago, where large-scale protests criticizing the pro-Israel policy and supporting the Palestinians are taking place. Most of them are Harris' main supporters.

Harris cannot, however, lean toward anti-Semitism. Despite the fact that many American Jews have been leaning toward the Republican Party in recent years, Jews are still a strong Democratic supporter. Although Jews make up only 2.4% of the adult population in the United States, they also have power that cannot be ignored in elections, especially in competing states due to their strong organizational and financial power.

In the recent Democratic congressional race, the largest Jewish group, the U.S.-Israel Public Policy Committee (AIPAC), criticized the U.S. blind support for Israel and played a decisive role in losing two Democratic congressmen who also protested near the White House. It was the result of spending 25 million dollars (about 33.4 billion won) on advertising through the "PAC (Political Action Committee)" they created to elect their party's competitors.

The Jewish group is concerned that Harris is "sympathetic" to the Palestinians. Such concerns are being expressed without naming Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who was considered the "number one candidate for vice president." Shapiro is Jewish. Pro-Palestinian progressive Democrats pressed Harris not to nominate him. Regardless of the real reason for his elimination, Jewish Democrats feel that Shapiro is Jewish and thus did not get Harris' nomination.

Harris is walking a tightrope. She supports Israel's right to self-defense and opposes the ban on arms exports to Israel. She also agrees with Israel's military goal of "removing the Hamas threat." She also criticizes the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. In March this year, she described the situation in Gaza as "horrific" and demanded an immediate ceasefire. However, it remains to be seen how long she will be able to continue the tightrope walk.

Are you capable of dealing with economic problems? "Look, the problem is the economy!
