'Chandler' Matthew Perry dies, doctor can serve up to 120 years
Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles have indicted five people, including a doctor, in connection with Matthew Perry's case as Friends Chandler, who died in October last year.
Those charged include two doctors, a private secretary who lived with Perry, as well as a ketamine supplier and a broker, an anesthetic.
Matthew Perry was found dead in a swimming pool at his home in Los Angeles on the afternoon of Oct. 28 last year.
Authorities concluded at the time that Perry died of acute side effects of ketamine, a general anesthetic.
Perry has been injected with ketamine to treat depression and anxiety.
The prosecution pointed out that they started to make money in exchange for prescribing the amount that their doctors wanted.
[Martin Estrada/Federal Prosecutor: The doctor sent a text message in September 2023 saying, 'I wonder how much this fool will pay.' He also said he wanted to be Mr. Perry's only source.]
In the middle of that, the secretary also made a profit.
[In September and October 2023 alone, I received 75 million won while supplying 20 ketamine injections]
Prosecutors say suppliers who have illegally supplied ketamine could face up to life in prison, and doctors who prescribe it illegally could face up to 120 years in prison.
[Dr. Prasencia's maximum sentence is 120 years in prison. Sanya, the supplier, is sentenced to life in prison.]
The other three could also face up to 10 to 25 years in prison if convicted.
