Born in 1985, he was the seventh of 13 siblings of the current Saudi king, Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. In 2017, King Salman bin Abdulaziz abolished the crown prince's status in Vienna and appointed his son, bin Salman, as the crown prince. It is the first father-to-son inheritance in Saudi Arabia, an absolute monarchy. Previously, Saudi Arabia's succession to the throne had historically been a sibling succession.



Crown Prince Bin Salman is actively pursuing de-oilization of Saudi Arabia's 脫. In 2016, he announced Vision 2030, a national development project that aims to transform Saudi Arabia from an oil-dependent economy to a hub of high-tech and private investment. In the following year, he announced a plan to build a high-tech new city called NEOM by investing 500 billion dollars as part of Vision 2030.

He is known to have more than 10 times wealthier than the Arab prince Mansour, who is synonymous with wealth, and the estimated wealth of bin Salman is 2 trillion U.S. dollars, or 2854.4 trillion won (2 billion dollars) in Korean currency.
